A word of advice for future Christmases. If you’re planning on getting your friend an egg, first figure out how many of their other friends are giving them eggs too. Otherwise, they might have five eggs hatch on the same day.

[At this point, Dirk turns the SFC around to show a collection of baby pokemon at his feet, including a Ralts, Charmander, Houndour, Feebas, and Ponyta. As soon as Dirk’s attention is directed to them, they all start clamoring for attention.]

Hmm...well, at least he's willing to spare them. Something else I would suggest is picking up some toys to keep them occupied. Most of mine were easily satiated with toys that sparkled or made noise, and a few that resembled other Pokemon. Especially ones that resembled their parents somewhat.

Does it even count if they haven't seen their parents since they hatched?

Well, in most cases - most being the keyword there - Pokemon can recognize at least their own species and will attach them as their parents. So getting, say, a Charmander a Charizard doll isn't a bad idea, because it recognizes it.

I take it you've seen that situation go wrong, considering that most. Sounds like a story and a half.

Let me introduce you to Kanye sometime. He's a Wartortle who was raised by a gaggle of Ninetales. Guess how that went.

He has one tail and it is lovely enough to make up for the other eight.

I just wonder how he's going to deal with losing it when he evolves...
